When we got the first print proof of Guess What’s Different we realized the text was too large. Naturally resizing the text throughout the whole book created some formatting issues, and in fixing those we failed to notice some of the margins had got out of order, which led to parts of the book having outside margins on the inside and inside margins on the outside. We ended up printing 204 copies with these messed-up margins. Big publishers might just destroy them, but that seems so wasteful considering the books are still perfectly readable, just not perfect, and also honestly destroying the books would destroy our budget. We redid the whole layout and everything is good if you prefer to order the regular version. But until we run out of these misprints you can get one for half-price. These copies are still readable so you get a cheap copy while helping us recoup the expenses of this boneheaded mistake.

Guess What’s Different is a collection of essays about the moments no one wants to talk about. Family history, family secrets. Anxiety, depression, and grief. With sharp prose and an open heart, Susan Triemert brings these moments back to life and makes you care about people you don’t know. Even when it hurts, she writes about her life and family with honesty and tenderness, from the pain and confusion of losing her parents, to the joy of finding her children through adoption. To Triemert, every moment matters. Memories fade and shape our narratives, and photographs should be scrutinized for any missing truths. It’s the writing that gets you though. Whether they’re sad or scary or sweet, Triemert’s style and precision turn these essays into stories that you really don’t want to end.
